- Basic movements of Kathakali dance and gesture. Includes training exercises: Kāl Sādhakam, Cuzhyspin, Meyuruppayava, Kalāśame (erriti Kalāśam), Strī Kalāśam (erriti Kalāśam), demonstration of Uhava-s (there are nine in all), and demonstration of a woman in a garden -- Costume demonstration -- Uttarā swayamvaram: Vana Varnana scene in which Krishnan, as Prince Uttara, performs a padam. The two wives who usually appear in this scene do not appear. Danced in costume -- Aragajakabalitam. This is an āttam, or interpolation in mime to percussion accompaniment, found in the Kathakali play, Kalyana Saughandikam, written by Kattayathu Tampuran, ca. 14th century. Performed in costume.
