- SUMMARY: Shows the Dengaku (ancient dance) performances which precede the Nachi hi matsuri (fire festival) held on July 13-14 at Kumano-Nachi shrine in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. Originally an elaboration of rice-planting festivities and harvest ceremonies which became stylized. Performed by a group of eight men wearing large straw hats similar to a farmer's field hat.
