- Summary
- In the introductory section of the film, in black-and-white, dance critic Walter Terry discusses Valerie Bettis and her work, with special reference to this dance; Valerie Bettis explains how and why she created the work; and Margaret Beals tells what it was like to learn the role from Bettis and the problems of re-creating a solo role so indelibly identified with another performer. She then performs the dance, in costume and in color.
