An early 19th century depiction of La Scala, viewed from the back of the auditorium. A large crowd stands behind the seated members of the audience in the orchestra level. The painted curtain beneath the proscenium arch depicts a pastoral scene with villagers, cherubs, and a deity riding through the clouds in a chariot.
