- Massive gold curtains, swagged and trimmed with black fringe, open partially on a street scene depicted in black, yellow and rose. A carriage stands in front of a fashionable cafe with the words "Soupers Max" above the door. A man and woman in period costumes stand slightly to the left of down stage center, with backs to the audience. Caryatids holding lamps overhead flank either side of stage. Set design takes up 3/4 of the paper, with pencil sketches of the caryatids on stage left and lower right. The word "royal" appears lower center.
