Summary
In a special program dedicated to the memory of dancer/choreographer William Carter, who died of AIDS in 1988, Billie Mahoney and guest Pearl Lang recall his many achievements, including his versatility in different styles (Spanish, ballet, modern, tap) and his special gift for partnering. Lang reminisces about her first performances with him in Martha Graham's Letter to the world and discusses her forthcoming film of The possessed, part of which Carter filmed during his illness. Carter is seen in videotape excerpts from a performance with Lang at the Public Theater, New York, in 1983.
