- Two young girls, representing the Debutante's friends, are seated at a table, in conversation. Two gentlemen stand behind them, one with his back to the audience and the other one turned upstage, head in profile. One of the local ladies (can can dancer) stands to the right by a potted palm, looking towards the girls.
