- Summary
- Documentary about six Russian artists who now live and work in the west: dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy, poet Joseph Brodsky, chess grand master Victor Korchnoi, sculptor Ernst Neizvestny, and painter Mikhail Chemaikin. Their reminiscences and commentaries about life and art in Russia and the U.S. are intercut with scenes of each artist at work and footage of Russia and New York City. Baryshnikov is seen rehearsing brief excerpts from Apollo, Harlequinade, and other ballets with the New York City Ballet.
