- Summary
- Recorded live at Northeastern Illinois University. As the program opens, a voice-over narrator describes disco dancing while dancers perform social and theatrical versions of disco dances onstage. Giordano discusses the origins and technique of jazz dancing, demonstrated by the dancers. In conclusion, the company performs a montage of dances from the 1920s to the 1970s: "I want to be happy" from No, no, Nanette; "The 12th Street rag"; "Boogie woogie bugle boy"; an example of black jazz dancing; "The continental"; "Steam heat" from Pajama game; popular dances of the 1960s; "Scorpio"; and disco dancing with audience participation.
