- Summary
- California-based choreographer-dancer Tandy Beal describes some recent projects, among them a children's dance performance involving the participation of 200 children; her version of The nutcracker, which includes jugglers, roller skaters, and Mexican folk dancing; and her piece Mer people, presented on the beach at Santa Cruz. She discusses the interactions of music, dance, and improvisation in her work, particularly in her collaboration with musicians Jon Scoville, the co-artistic director of her company, and Bobby McFerrin, who created the PBS special Voice dance with her. Her choreographic work has also involved poetry, puppets, and the circus.
