- Summary
- Interview with jazz dancer, teacher, and choreographer Luigi. Preceded by an introduction by Fry, illustrated with footage of Luigi teaching and dancing in his New York studio. Luigi recalls the beginnings of his career, including his work in films and on Broadway, and his rehabilitation from injuries received in a car accident, which led him to develop his own technique. He notes the spread of this technique in choreography by Michael Bennett, Ron Field, and others, and through teaching on the university level. As an example of the latter, members of the University of South Florida Dance Ensemble are seen in an excerpt from Jazz mission, originally created by Luigi for the Harkness dancers, and restaged by Francis Roach. The interview closes with a discussion of dance training and teaching.
