Summary
Part of a series of interviews with former members of major modern dance and ballet companies. Phyllis Lamhut, formerly with Nikolais Dance Theatre, recalls her training with Alwin Nikolais at Henry Street Playhouse, and her experiences as a company member. She also discusses some of the elements a dance company needs to achieve success. An excerpt from her work Passing (music: Robert Moran) is screened. Dan Wagoner, who danced in the companies of Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, and Merce Cunningham before starting his own company, reminisces about his experiences with these choreographers, as well as his youth in West Virginia and his early dance training. The program concludes with an excerpt from his videodance George's house.
