Nana Yao Opare Dinizulu, director of Dinizulu's Dancers and Singers, and modern dancer Gus Solomons, Jr., discuss black dance in the U.S. from the perspectives of traditional African dance and modern dance. Topics include the influence of a dancer's knowledge and awareness of his cultural heritage, the black physique in relation to different dance forms, the sense of individuality fostered by both African and modern dance, motivations for dance, and definitions of the term ethnic dance.
