- Description
- 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (29 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
- Summary
- Former dancers Sally Brayley Bliss, Helen Heineman, and Deborah Jowitt relate how they made the transition from dance to a second career, or maintained a second career in addition to performing. They point out qualities fostered by dance training, such as discipline and creativity, that can help a dancer achieve success in a second career. They discuss whether young dancers should be advised to pursue second interests while actively performing, and propose some ways of doing so. Modern dancer Shareen Blair is cited as an example of a performer who used her university education to gain additional skills. In the commentary Esoterica balletica, Betty Low tells an anecdote about touring with the Original Ballet Russe.
