Description
1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (29 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
Former dancers Stuart Hodes and Liz Thompson discuss their own experiences of making the transition from dance to second careers with Brann Wry, director of the graduate program in arts administration at New York University, who contributes his observations of his students. Among the topics they discuss are benefits of dance training that can be carried over to other facets of life, changing attitudes towards dance as a serious profession, second careers within the dance field, and the difficulties experienced by those who undergo forced retirement because of injuries. Betty Low's Esoterica balletica treats the subject of Russianized names given to dancers in the Original Ballet Russe.
