Summary

Guests are Marijeanne Liederbach, a former dancer who is now an athletic trainer; Joffrey Ballet dancer Annette Bressie; and Peter Marshall, a physiotherapist who has worked with American Ballet Theatre. Liederbach describes her study of the athletic capacities of Joffrey dancers, in which Bressie participated as a subject, and demonstrates some of the testing devices used. The guests discuss the value and practical application of test results, the meaning of aerobic fitness, and typical stage injuries. They also suggest some ways in which the dancer can avoid injury. In Esoterica balletica, Daniel Lewis discusses José Limón's The Moor's pavane.
