Montage of scenes recorded on location at Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York, on September 15, 1988, during the ceremonies for the New York Dance and Performance Awards (Bessies). Includes presentation and acceptance speeches, performance excerpts, and interviews with past and present award winners and others. Presenting speeches onstage are: David White, Bill Irwin, Bessie Schoenberg, Kate Johnson, Valda Setterfield, Bill T. Jones, John Kelly, Dana Reitz, David Cale, and Ann Carlson. Appearing in interviews offstage are: White, Stephanie Skura, Amy Pivar, Frances Becker, Schoenberg, Elizabeth Streb, Carlson, and Edwina Lee Tyler.
