Summary

Video makers Mary Lucier and Burt Barr discuss their respective collaborations with choreographers Elizabeth Streb and Trisha Brown, while Jim Self provides the dancer's point of view through his description of his collaboration with filmmaker Frank Moore. They talk about different approaches to recording dance, the challenge of maintaining the integrity of the choreography, and the collaborative process, including the questions of who maintains artistic control and who retains the copyright. The program is illustrated by excerpts of each guest's work: Lucier's If I could fly, I would fly, with Streb, and Wilderness (seen under the closing credits); Barr's Trisha and Carmen; and Self's Beehive, created with Moore.
