Summary
Guests, interviewed separately, are Hellmut Gottschild and LaVaughn Robinson. Gottschild, a German-born modern dancer, reminisces about his early studies with Mary Wigman and his experiments with improvisation in the company Group Motion, with which he came to the U.S. He describes how he developed his own approach to dance, and his work with the Philadelphia-based Zero Moving Company. He is seen performing in an unidentified work with the company, which also appears in his work We liked your coat, so we undressed you, and in a studio rehearsal of Karen Bamonte's Farenheit or Centigrade. Robinson, a tap dancer, reminisces about learning to dance on the streets and at the Earl Theater, where dancers often appeared with bands. He describes his style of tap dancing, which he demonstrates in the studio with his partner Germaine Ingram.
