CONTENTS: Introduction to the entire workshop and festival (approx. 10 min.) by Susan Eike Spalding, CASS fellow, who defines traditional dance and its functions, and suggests some applications for educators. -- Workshop (approx. 29 min.) in stepping or blocking, introduced by Jane Harris Woodside, CASS assistant director. Demonstrations by members of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity (Frederick Brabson, Alan Kirkpatrick, Glenn Powell, and Wayne Shorter II) and the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority (Jackie Boston, Zenia Ford, Kay Melton, Kamesa O'Neal, and Kim Redd), both groups from East Tennessee State University, who also teach the movements to audience members.
