- Summary
- Unedited footage, recorded for the documentary Ruth Page: Once upon a dancer (1988). For the completed documentary, see: *MGZIA 4-1249 cassette 129. Ruth Page presents a slide lecture, principally about her own ballets, to students of the Chicago Academy for the Arts. She comments briefly upon each slide, most of which are off-camera or indiscernible on screen. The lecture is introduced by Orrin Kayan.

- CONTENTS: Cassette 39 (approx. 19 min.): Page reminisces about Anna Pavlova's dancing, and her own experiences in Pavlova's company. She recalls her Asian tour of 1928, the "sack" costume designed for her by Isamu Noguchi, and her partnership with Harald Kreutzberg. Among the ballets she comments upon are The birthday of the Infanta, The flapper and the quarterback, Possessed, and Tropic. -- Cassette 40 (approx. 18 min.): Page discusses her partnership with Bentley Stone, her ballets to the poetry of e. e. cummings and Carl Sandburg, the importance of good collaborators, and Alicia Markova. She comments upon her ballets Frankie and Johnny, American pattern, Carmen, The bells, and others. -- Cassette 41 (approx. 21 min.): Page discusses various treatments of the Faust story, and her ballet Romeo and Juliet. The lecture ends approx. 6 min. into tape, and is followed by footage (partly without audio) of a surprise birthday party for Page.
