- Summary
- Demonstrates Soundbeam, an electronic device produced by EMS (Electronic Music Studios) that translates physical motion into sound. Soundbeam is shown in use with dancers and handicapped children and adults. "Soundbeam works by sending out a series of ultrasonic clicks which are reflected back to the machine by any object entering or moving about in the (invisible) beam. The nature of the movement-- the pattern of entries and exits, and varying distances from the source of the beam-- is converted into Midi code, and used to 'play' synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, and so on."--Container insert.
