Part of the Balanchine Symposia, a series of public programs presented by the Dance Collection of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in connection with the exhibition Balanchine. Kent looks back at her training at the School of American Ballet and her early years in the New York City Ballet, in the 1950s. She recalls the composition of the company, prevailing technical standards, and some memorable dancers, among them Maria Tallchief and Tanaquil Le Clercq.
