CONTENTS: Dances of courtship: Bolivian, Cambodian (approx. 34 min.). Recorded on July 5, 1993. Presenter: Gilka Wara Céspedes, Frank Proschan. [Panelists]/dancers: Angel Quinteros, Lillian Quinteros, Chan Moly Sam, Vuthy Kheav. Additional dancers: Luis Fuentes, Luz Fuentes, Sochietah Ung, Natalie Chhuan, Rady Tes, Sareth Sokhon, Soum Sokhon. Panelists compare Cambodian and Bolivian courtship customs, and some of the dances associated with courtship. Dances demonstrated are the Bolivian cueca, the Cambodian lam leav, and the bolero, an imported form shared by both cultures. -- Cultural contact in dance: Bolivia (approx. 24 min.). Recorded on July 5, 1993. Presenter: Gilka Wara Céspedes. Dancers: Paola Castellon, Angel Quinteros, Lillian Quinteros, Juan Leonardo Alanes. Bolivians examine the process of cross-fertilization within their own country, noting the interchange between different ethnic groups and urban and rural areas, and the importation of dances from abroad. Examples discussed and/or demonstrated are the negritos, caporales, cumbia, salsa, and merengue.
