Nicole Plett: Restaging the Bauhaus: experimental traditions at Black Mountain College, 1936-1938 (approx. 25 min.). Discussion of the achievements of Xanti (Alexander) Schawinsky, a former member of the Bauhaus theater workshop, who initiated the experimental tradition at Black Mountain. Includes background on the Bauhaus, particularly the theatrical works of Oskar Schlemmer and Kurt Schmidt. -- Rhythm McCarthy: Dance at Black Mountain College, 1941-1952: Elsa Kahl, Elizabeth Jennerjahn, and Katherine Litz (approx. 20 min.). Discussion of the contributions of three dance faculty members. -- Allegra Fuller Snyder: A young dancer's view of Merce Cunningham - 1948 and after (approx. 28 min.). A reminiscence of Snyder's father, Buckminster Fuller, and his interactions with Cunningham, Cage, and others at Black Mountain College, and Snyder's own youthful observations of Cunningham's dancing.
