Summary
Instruction in belly dancing, preceded by a brief history of dance in ancient Egypt. The class begins with a warm-up on the floor and exercises at the barre, followed by center work including practice with finger cymbals and a stick dance. Fouad then performs an improvisation comprising many movements basic to belly dancing. Yoko Kinugasa, a kabuki dancer, performs a Japanese dance, then with Fouad demonstrates movements common to both dance forms. The whole group joins in movement at the close.
