- Covers the period during which José Limón served as a Private in the U.S. Army at Camp Lee, Richmond, Virginia, and appeared in various Army Special Services shows. Among the shows were "Fun for the birds," Mosque Theatre, Richmond, Sept. 5, 1943, Camp Lee Concert Dance Group, Feb. 13, 1944, "Mexilinda," Feb. 20, 1944, "Men in shadow," Nov. 22, 1943, and "Deliver the goods," April 27, 1944. Includes an article from the New York Times magazine, May 7, 1944, on the latter.
- Also includes four typescript letters of commendation from his commanding officers, a certificate, and a bust photographic portrait of Limón in uniform.
