- Thirty dancers who worked in the New York City Ballet under choreographer George Balanchine were interviewed regarding the nature of their relationship with this director. Results of the study reveal the reenactment of many familial dynamics, including transference of specific patterns of behavior from parent to director and idealization of an authority figure.
