Organized in five series of folders, annotated by the compiler, and separately numbered: 1) 4 folders: Mark Morris chronology, Feb. 14, 1965-July 30, 1995, and correspondence with Verla Flowers about the collection; 2) 178 folders: programs, press clippings, photographs, etc. arranged in approximate chronological order; 3) 11 folders: supplementary files on Mark Morris, undated; 4) and 5) 36 folders: postcards and letters (photocopies) to Verla Flowers, including fifteen from Mark Morris.

  • Documentation of the professional career and student life of American choreographer Mark Morris. Contains programs, press clippings, magazine articles, publicity photographs (b&w) and color xeroxes of photographs, program announcements, studio newsletters, and photocopies of correspondence and postcards.
  • Compiled by Verla Flowers Halladay, dance teacher and director of Verla Flowers Dance Arts, a Seattle dance school where Mark Morris was a student from 1966 to 1976, and by Maxine Morris, his mother.
  • Also includes material on various dance companies with which Morris has been associated, among them the Mark Morris Dance Group, Monnaie Dance Group/Mark Morris, and White Oak Dance Project.
