Summary
Demonstration of exercises comprising a six-week program adopted by the YMCA in 1974 as The Y's way to a healthy back. The program, based on the research of Dr. Hans Kraus, is divided into three sections and includes exercises for relaxation, flexibility, and strength. Alexander Melleby, the founder of the YMCA program, also reports on recent research into back pain, guides the viewer through the Kraus-Weber test to evaluate the back, and discusses how to correct everyday movement habits that may lead to back pain.
