Summary
Documentary on the Butō dancer-choreographer Ushio Amagatsu and his company Sankai Juku, focusing on a single work, Kinkan shonen (Kumquat seed). The program begins with the final moments of the work, as performed at the Théâtre de la Ville, Paris, in June 1993, then examines each scene in detail, with comments by Amagatsu on the imagery and movement qualities that he sought to incorporate into the piece. This documentary was entered in the Grand Prix International Vidéo Danse.
