Summary
After an introduction by an unidentified man, ballerina Maria Tallchief leads her colleagues Allegra Kent, Suzanne Farrell, and Mimi Paul in barre exercises, performed without narration. Tallchief then discusses the purpose of the exercises and the aim of choreography, and presents a brief history of ballet, which is illustrated by dance examples of the choreography of Lev Ivanov, Michel Fokine, and George Balanchine.
