• Contempory Venetian red velvet over wooden boards, profusely adorned with silver repoussé mounts: both covers surrounded by a shaped and engraved rocaille border; busts of the Evangelists with their symbols in the 4 corners of front cover, with Christ on the cross between the Virgin and St. John in center; busts of 4 prophets in the corners of back cover, with Christ rising from the tomb in center; spine covered by a panel of embossed and pierced acanthus leaves; 4 silver cast clasps with catches on border of front cover. Binding and clasps with the maker's mark L.V.
