Summary
Documentary on the making of the ballet Blue snake, commissioned by the National Ballet of Canada from choreographer Robert Desrosiers and composers John Lang and Ahmed Hassan. The program traces the parallel creation of music and dance, facilitated by the collaborators' ongoing exchange of videotapes of dance rehearsals and audiotapes of the projected score. Scenes of work in both dance and recording studios are interspersed with the composers' and dancers' comments on this unusual working process. Performance excerpts of the finished ballet conclude the program.
