- Panel discussion on the history of the American Dance Festival from 1948 to 1977 and the continuing dance program at Connecticut College. The discussion opens with the beginnings of the summer dance festival at Bennington College, under the leadership of Martha Hill. The participants share personal reminiscences representing different points of view (student, artist-in-residence, administrator, archivist), and tell anecdotes about the notable dancers and choreographers involved in the summer festivals, among them Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Louis Horst, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, Meredith Monk, Twyla Tharp, and Laura Dean. Some specific works mentioned are Taylor's Scudorama, Cunningham's Antic meet and Crises, and Monk's Needle-brain Lloyd and the systems kid.
