- Biography
- Eddie Barnes sang bass and played double bass for the vocal quintet, the Cues, during the 1950s. Formed in 1954 as an in-house backup group for Atlantic Records, the Cues, using different aliases, supported a number of the label's acts. Later, the group recorded for Lamp and Jubilee Records under their own name while continuing to support other groups. In 1955, the Cues signed with Capitol, for both their own recordings and as a support group, but began to record backup for groups on other labels. Among the artists they recorded with include Ruth Brown, LaVern Baker, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, and Bobby Darin. By 1960, the group had broken up with individual members pursuing their own careers. As of the early 1980s, Barnes was a member of a musical trio in New York.
