Summary
Choreographer Agnes de Mille discusses aspects of her ballet A rose for Miss Emily (1970), based on a story by William Faulkner. With child students of the North Carolina School of the Arts, she sets dramatic exercises to help them capture the atmosphere of the ballet's opening. Adult soloists Gemze de Lappe and David Evans then dance excerpts in practice clothes. The segment concludes with excerpts performed in costume by de Lappe, Evans, and the children.
