Mr. Fratto, director of Ballet Etudes Repertory Company of Norwalk, Connecticut, discusses the origins of his company as an outgrowth of his school; losing dancers to professional companies; building dance audiences through educational programs in community schools; the company's repertory and choreographers; and administrative concerns in running the company. [13 min.]
Ms. Rothlein discusses her dance background; meeting Yvonne Rainer and James Waring at a 92nd Street Y concert; joining Waring's company; first performing on pointe at age 28; learning dance as an adult as opposed to studying as a child; seasons at the Judson Church; and her role in the Gertrude Stein musical, In circles, at the Cherry Lane Theatre.
