- Ms. Taylor discusses the stresses of choreographing for a weekly live television show; the criteria for selecting dancers for her company; the performance schedule for the Jackie Gleason show; her first television work in 1948 for the Ed Sullivan show; the technique involved in staging dance for television; Duke Ellington composing A train in 1948 for the June Taylor Dancers; her own dance background; training with Merriel Abbott in Chicago; making a Hollywood screen test; contracting tuberculosis at age 18, which curtailed her dance career and led her to choreography; and her philosophy of dance.
