Biography
Edward S. Lewis (1901-1986) was a social work executive and educator who served as executive-secretary of the Kansas City (Mo.) Urban League (1927-1931), the Baltimore Urban League (1931-1943), and executive-director of the Urban League of Greater New York (1943-1960s). He also served on several boards and commissions for labor, housing, social work, and welfare issues, and was, during his later years, Dean and Assistant to the President of the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
