Summary
Second of three videocassettes designed to be used along with accompanying booklets containing both general information and specific descriptions of the musical and dance selections, as well as suggestions for further research. Most of the performances were recorded on location, many in the open air, and are generally performed by natives of the region. Countries covered on this tape are: The Gambia (Mandinka [Mandingo] people), Liberia (Vai people; the Vai words below are spelled in accordance with the International Phonetic Alphabet), Ghana (Akan, Ashanti, Ewe, Gã, Manya Krobo [Krobo], Frafra, Kasena-Nankani [Kasem], and Dagaaba [Dagari] peoples), and Nigeria (Hausa and Yoruba peoples).
