Charles Meryon's earliest works include these experimental reproductive prints, mostly of animal or marine scenes, after Karel Dujardin, Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg, Adriaan van de Velde and Reinier Zeeman. Subjects include views of Haarlem, Musée du Louvre, Oceania, Pont-Neuf, Saint-Denis, the Seine and Vlissingen. Other subjects include asses, boats, cows, horses, sheep, swine, towers, watermills and villages. One print is present in two states.
