- Pagination continuous. A new edition of Townsend's Old Testament in two volumes, 1821, etc., and of his New Testament in two volumes, 1825, etc., with most of the notes omitted. Townsend's arrangement is based mainly on J. Lightfoot's "Chronicle" (first printed in 1647) and similar works. The table of content divides the Old Testament into eight "periods," each subdivided into "parts;" and the New Testament into fifteen "parts." v. 1, Old Testament, periods 1-5; v. 2, Old Testament, periods 6-8; v. 3, New Testament. Bound in calf with gilt edges.
