Biography
Playwright, author and editor, Veona Thomas was born in New York City. Thomas studied at the Frederick Douglass Cultural Arts Center, NY. She was the publisher and editor of Write-On Newsletter; she founded Rejoti Publishing Co. to publish plays by female playwrights. She is a contributing writer to the theatrical publication, Black Masks, the Torchbearer, and New Directions for Women. Veona Thomas is the author of a collection of poetry, commentary, and prose, "Laughter, lyrics and tears," 1985, and a novella, "Never too late to love," 1987. She is the co-originator of the Power in You Workshop, National Black Theater, NY. Veona Thomas is also the originator of the Annual Black Writers Conference, held in late May of each year. She is a member of the National Writers Club, Dramatists Guild, AUDELCO (Audience Development Committee), and Team Writers.
