- "This brief is in support of that part of the decree appealed from which adjudges that the laws and orders complained of are void because they prescribe confiscatory rates in violation of the fourteenth amendment of the Constitution of the United States. A separate brief has been filed by appellees in support of that part of the decree which adjudges that the laws and orders complained of are void because in violation of the commerce clause of the Constitution."--p. - The cases concern suits brought against George T. Simpson, as attorney general, and against the Railroad and Warehouse Commission of Minnesota and the Northern Pacific, Great Northern and Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad Companies by stockholders of the respective companies, who alleged that acts of the Legislature and orders of the commission, prescribing reduced freight and passenger rates, were unconstitutional.
