Biography
Playwright, actor, freelance writer, newspaper reporter, and public relations director. Davis was educated at the U.S. Armed Forces Institute, majoring in journalism, newswriting, and public relations, 1959. He studied English and sociology at Morgan State College, 1967, and public relations at Pace College, 1969. Davis authored many articles wich appeared in Black Dialogue, the Liberator magazine and Muhammad Speaks. He was a newspaper reporter for the New York Post and Baltimore News American newspapers before becoming a public relations writer. He also worked as a copy editor for the Afro-American newspaper chain and as an index writer for Time Magazine.
Milburn Davis was a member of Ed Bullins' Black Playwrights Workshop in Harlem, the Negro Ensemble Company, and the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop in New York City. He performed as an actor with the Black Magicians of the New Lafayette Theater, 1969-73, where he also played roles in two of his own plays. Since 1959 he has published numerous short stories in different popular magazines. He is the winner of second and third prizes in the U.S. Armed Forces short story contest, 1958.
