- Biography
Playwright. Nabie Yayah Swaray author of "Worl' do for fraid" (Washington, DC; Three Continents Press, 1986), was born in Sierra Leone in 1953. He is a successor to four older Sierra Leonean anglophone playwrights (Akar, Easmon, Maddy, and Bart-Williams). Swaray's involvement in the theater started early; at the age of four he began acting in pantomime. His interest continued throughout his school years and at Harvard College (1975), where there was a reading of his first play, "Dance of the Witches." Swaray, through correspondence with the Negro Ensemble Company, sought to see the production of his plays.
