Recorded April 24, 1994 at the Actor's Fund Residence, Englewood, New Jersey. Ms. Sherman discusses childhood dance studies; why she began studying at the Denishawn school; her parents' reactions to her touring with the Denishawn Dancers at age 17; why she left Denishawn for Doris Humphrey's new company; writing; her mother's wish that she become famous; the process of reconstructing Denishawn repertory; developing the Denishawn Repertory Dancers; Jacqulyn Buglisi. She concludes by comparing European and American attitudes toward concert dance.
