Beattie, professor of pathology, University of Sheffield" (p. 12-17)
"Second report" has three appendixes: I. The volatile constituents of coal, by R. V. Wheeler and M. J. Burgess. -- II. The extraction of coal by pyridine. -- III. Analysis of coals and their relative ignition temperatures.
"Fourth report" contains certain preliminary observations on the progressive development of a coal dust explosion as it travels along a gallery, and on the effects due to obstructions in its path.
"Fifth report" has an appendix: A description of Altofts shale, communicated by Dr. Mellor, director of the Pottery school, Stoke-on-Trent.
