"A manuscript collection ... of some eighty separate texts, mostly folk tales ... recorded by the Russian ethnographer, Waldemar (Vladimir Ilích) Jochelson ... His manuscripts came into the posession of the late Professor Franz Boas, who turned them over to the New York public library ... By way of sampling the collection, below are offered two love songs ... and three folk tales ... The note on Aleut phonemics, which is also printed here, is by Professor Roman Jakobson, and the bibliography ...
